CHANGES COMING TO THE INDIVIDUAL HEALTH INSURANCE MARKET

As many consumers know already, the individual health insurance marketplace here in Ohio has been in a state of change for the last few years. Consumers are seeing a wide spectrum of changes that may be helping or hurting them depending on their specific situation. There are many factors to consider when purchasing health insurance and here at MCC we feel that health insurance is not a “one size fits all” product.

With the Reinsurance tax ending soon, many carriers will be forced to make changes for 2017 plans. The Reinsurance payments were put in place by the PPACA (ObamaCare) law and they were meant to help stabilize the individual marketplace. This payment from the federal government to carriers was always temporary and now with it ending carriers are forced to make needed adjustments.

Consumers here in Ohio and all across the country may experience larger than normal increases on their rates, changes in provider networks and also changes in benefit plan options. MCC wants to make consumers aware of these possible changes, so you are not caught off guard as we get closer to the end of the year.

The open enrollment period for individuals and families will begin on November 1, 2016. At that time consumers can shop to see if there may be better options available. MCC excels at helping consumers navigate the ever changing health insurance marketplace. Contact us today and let us be your advocate!
